Why did you pursue RFI’s Student Serviceship experience?
I reapplied because, as someone that is looking to go into this field in the future, I wanted to build my network. This field is more “who you know” and not “what you know.” Serviceship gives me a chance to build my network and learn through experiences what it will take to be a community developer.

What do you hope to learn and how do you hope to be different from this experience?
I hope that I am able to build my soft skills throughout the summer. I also hope that I am able to build my leadership skills in a larger rural community. I hope this experience helps me become a stronger, more strategic leader.

What is your favorite aspect of Nebraska?
I love that Nebraska has so many hidden gems across the state. All of the interns will be able to find something special about their community and will be able to remember that and learn from it. Nebraska also has a culture that is different from most places. We are very open to new people and very welcoming. As they say, we are “Nebraska Nice.”
